Meningitis Trust
Part of Medical
The Meningitis Trust is the primary UK provider of professional services and community support for those affected by meningitis, helping around 20,000 people every year. It is also committed to raising awareness of the signs and symptoms of meningitis, printing leaflets, posters, symptoms cards and other materials for widespread use.
Meningitis strikes suddenly, but its impact can last a lifetime, with devastating consequences not only for those who have contracted the disease, but also for their families and friends.
500,000 people in the UK have had viral or bacterial meningitis and 15% of those who contract bacterial meningitis will suffer life changing after-effects including hearing loss, brain damage and the loss of limbs.
The Meningitis Trust provides a range of services including a free 24-hour nurse-led helpline, free professional counselling for sufferers and their families, one-to-one contact and support and a programme of financial grants. With the Trust’s expert help, meningitis survivors are given the strength to rebuild their lives.
The Meningitis Trust needs constant help to raise money to pay for its services, providing a lifeline for people affected by meningitis. It is completely reliant on voluntary contributions to continue its vital work.
