Samaritans is the UK’s leading emotional support charity and the co-ordinating body for 201 Samaritans branches in the UK and Republic of Ireland.   The service is provided entirely by 18,000 highly trained volunteers who play an active, vital and visible role in every major town and city.  Our volunteers answer calls, emails, letters and provide emotional support face to face at branches.  Some of our branches are also involved in piloting Samaritans pioneering text messaging project to reach vulnerable young people.

Our volunteers are pro-active in your local communities, increasingly reaching out to vulnerable groups in schools, prisons, hospitals, festivals, the workplace and the homeless.  We help young people in your local schools to develop “skills for life”, helping them to build confidence and self esteem to deal with difficult emotional issues such as bullying and exam pressure to reduce incidents of self harm and suicide.   We are also building partnerships with GPs to take referrals and our WorkLife training programme helps companies to reduce stress in the workplace.

Your donation through Workplace Giving is so important in order that Samaritans can continue to be there every day for those in emotional distress. Each month your donation helps pay for more calls, emails and SMS texts to be answered. Thank you for your support.
