Look after your Ears this summer!

19 July 2010

RNID-Dont-lose-the-MusicProtect your hearing this summer is the advice from RNID’s Don’t Lose the Music supporters and festival headliners, Faithless.

Music at gigs and festivals can reach sound levels in excess of 110dB – the equivalent of an aircraft taking off. Don’t Lose the Music warns that without protection, noise exposure at these levels could cause permanent hearing damage.

Maxi Jazz from Faithless, said: “The sound of the waves on the shore. Children laughing. The breeze rustling through the trees. Simple pleasures brought to you by your hearing – look after your ears.”

Run by RNID, the charity working with hearing loss and hearing health, Don’t Lose the Music informs festival-goers about how they can protect their ears now so they can enjoy the music they love for years to come.

Don’t Lose the Music’s Top Tips for protecting your hearing:

  • Wear reusable earplugs that reduce volume, not quality of sound.
  • Use chill out zones to give your ears a rest.
  • Don’t stand too close to speakers.
