Don’t Split Up These Homeless Couples This Valentines

The RSPCA is asking potential rehomers to spare a thought for inseparable couples this Valentine’s Day and consider taking on two animals for double the love.

The charity is currently caring for dog duos, cat couples, rabbit romantics, cooing chinchillas and even giddy geese which can’t survive without each other.  It is hoping that with love in the air at this time of year, potential new owners will open their doors and their hearts and offer them a fresh start.

Here are just some of the pairs of pets who are hoping to find their perfect match with a new owner.

• Gorgeous geese Ebb and Flow were rescued by the RSPCA after spending their days living in a flat. They crave a new life together with regular access to water, a grassy area to graze in and a fox-proof bedroom. They are currently living at Blackberry Farm Animal Centre in Aylesbury.
• Chinchillas Karen and Beck met at the Leybourne Animal Centre in Kent. Karen came to us after being rescued by RSPCA inspectors and it was love at first sight when she met Becks whose owner had moved into a nursing home. Karen had spent most of her time in the corner of her cage with her head down but Becks has given her the new lease of life she needed.
• Rumpus and Spot. The cats are both living with a foster family in South East London after their previous owner moved house and couldn’t take her cats with her.
• Rabbits Kitkat and Cadbury are currently living at RSPCA Martlesham near Ipswich after being rescued by RSPCA inspectors. They are looking for a perfect home together, which would include a minimum of 50 sq ft living space and an outside area to play in.
• Friendly ferrets November and Storm have been living at the Little Valley Animal Shelter in Exeter since They are inquisitive little creatures who are very fond of each other’s company and spend as much time as possible together.
• Jack Russell’s Charlie and Chloe formed a close bond as they spend their days playing together and their nights snuggled up in their bed. They have been living at the Southridge Animal Centre since 2007 so we hope they find the home they deserve soon.

Mona Jorgensen, deputy manager at Southridge, said: “Some of the animals which come into our care have had traumatic pasts so it’s great when they are able to find love and happiness with both another animal and a new owner. These animals have formed a very close bond and we don’t want to separate them or cause any more upset.

“We are hoping that during this romantic time of year, people will find space in their hearts to offer these animals a loving home as well as the care and affection they deserve.”
