Sponsor a Room – Livability

Please help us with our work in providing residential care for disabled people. Livability’s new residential care home, Kenway Court, has 24 self contained rooms for local people with severe or complex disabilities in Southend-on-Sea. Each room provides the space, facilities and specialist services for each resident to live their life the way they want to – often for the first time.

Your sponsorship will help provide a room at the home for a disabled person like Dean. At the age of seven, Dean suffered his first brain haemorrhage which would eventually leave him permanently in a wheelchair. Since leaving home he had no choice but to live by himself, in a flat which was not suited to his disability, and although care was provided he still felt very anxious and insecure.

Sometimes, if his carer didn’t visit, Dean had to sit in his wheelchair all night, without being able to pour even a glass of water for himself because he couldn’t reach the taps. Dean’s situation left him understandably “depressed, bored and worried about the future.”

Now that he has a room at the new Livability home, Dean is able to make new friends, develop interests and hobbies and get the specialist care and therapy that he needs.

Minimum donation £16 per month

It costs just £16 a month to sponsor a room at Kenway Court. Your money will:

• Ensure that residents have all of the facilities that they need to live their lives in a secure environment, with 24/7 nursing care
• Ensure that residents have the services of an activities co-ordinator, who will ensure that all residents benefit from a tailor made programme of events.
• Help pay towards the building costs of the new state of the art £5 million building.

In return

In return for your sponsorship, you’ll receive regular updates on life at Kenway Court, plus you will be invited to attend regular events there so that you can see the new building and meet some of the residents.
