Woodland Trust
Part of Environmental
The Woodland Trust owns and cares for more than 1000 woods across the UK, every single one of which is free to visit. We believe the UK should be a place rich in native woods and trees which can be enjoyed and valued by everybody. With your help we protect hundreds of acres of native woodland and plant thousands of new trees every year creating a healthy environment for the future.
Sadly, nearly 50 per cent of ancient woodland that survived until the 1930s has since been lost. We aim to prevent any further loss of our ancient woodland and to double native tree cover through involving communities in tree-planting events across the country. Our Tree For All project alone, has enabled more than 1.5 million children plant 6.5 million trees.
Woods and trees are essential to life. They have a myriad of different benefits for both wildlife and people. They stabilise the soil, generate oxygen, store carbon, play host to a spectacular variety of wildlife, provide us with raw materials and shelter, inspire our imaginations and our creativity. By supporting the Woodland Trust you are ensuring our native trees and woods continue to thrive for generations to come.
