St John Ambulance
Part of Community Services
St John Ambulance is the UK’s leading first aid charity. We believe that everyone who needs it should receive first aid from those around them and that no one should suffer for the lack of trained first aiders.
Our 40,000 volunteers are committed to training, caring and saving lives, helping around 130,000 casualties annually.
St John Ambulance volunteers provide first aid at high profile national events such as the Notting Hill Carnival where 218 people were treated in 2009 as well as at local events, where first aiders sprang into action recently following a crash at the Weston Beach Race in Weston-super-Mare, Avon when 21 people suffered injury.
In addition, our volunteers provide support to the statutory services, especially in times of emergency such as the London bombings and we have a number of community support programmes which give vital assistance to some of the most vulnerable people in society including the young, homeless and elderly.
