As the only cot death charity in Scotland, the Scottish Cot Death Trust has 3 key priorities:

  • To offer support to every family affected by cot death regardless of where they live in Scotland.  Support is available for as long or as little as required and families often ‘opt in and out’ of support for many years.  It is very common to support families after their bereavement; at anniversaries, birthdays and other landmark occasions (such as what would have been their first day at school).  We also provide support through subsequent pregnancies and births.
  • To educate the public and professionals about the risks of cot death and how to reduce those risks.
  • To fund research to increase our knowledge and understanding as to why some babies die for no apparent reason.

We can’t do this on our own.  We receive less than 3% of our annual income from local government and rely almost entirely on public donations to enable to continue our fight against cot death.

Sadly, over the last year, we lost a baby every 9 days across Scotland – so, as you can see, we need your support more than ever!
