Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity exists to make life better for seriously ill children.

We believe that every child has the right to a good quality of life, no matter how ill they are.  So we help thousands of children each year living with serious conditions to receive the highest quality care, advice and support.

Whether that’s through providing nurses, equipment, carers or toys, working with hospitals and care organisations or directly with patients, we help to care for children with conditions including acquired brain injury, epilepsy and blood disorders such as sickle cell disease.

We think that’s a marvellous thing to do. We hope you agree.

The financial impact of caring for a child with a serious medical condition can be devastating for the whole family and a small amount of money can make a huge difference.  Your donation can support our grants programme which provides parents or carers with help such as:

  • contributions towards living and travel costs when a child is in hospital
  • buying a fridge in which to store medication
  • assistance with purchasing sensory toys for a severely disabled child
  • providing a washing machine to help with the never-ending laundry when a child is so ill
  • part-funding towards the prohibitive cost of purchasing wheelchairs and other specialist equipment

Our network of Specialist Nurses works at hospitals across the UK in the areas of acquired brain injury, epilepsy, haemoglobinopathies (blood disorders) and bone marrow transplants.  Your support can help us to:

  • Create more new Specialist Paediatric Nursing posts to ensure that seriously ill children get the support they need
  • Provide training grants to our Roald Dahl Nurses to enable them to keep their specialist skills up to date
  • Support nurse-led projects (via our partnership with the Burdett Trust for Nursing) in which Specialist Nurses can lead the way in developing best practice in patient care
