The Refugee Council is the leading independent charity working with refugees in the UK to help them rebuild their lives in safety. We provide vital support, specialist care, advice and friendship to thousands of people who have fled oppressive regimes, suffered persecution or even torture, leaving behind everything they once called home.

Through our campaigns, lobbying, research and parliamentary work, we speak out for the rights of refugees and challenge government policy, the media and hostile public attitudes.

Every year we help around 30,000 refugees across the country – over 1,000 are separated children. Most are destitute and isolated, receive no income support or live on supermarket vouchers. Some are even homeless.

£6.00 a month can support our specialist work with children and families, helping young and old to deal with their distress.

£8.00 a month could provide an ‘emergency’ pack for a destitute asylum seeker, consisting of a food parcel, blanket & washing powder.

£10 a month could provide warm clothes, a shower, food and somewhere to rest for a refugee in need.

£25 a month could help provide expert counselling to a traumatised refugee.
