Heart Research UK
Part of Medical
For over 40 years Heart Research UK has led the way in funding pioneering research into the prevention, treatment and cure of heart disease – the UK’s biggest killer. In the early days, our funding revolutionised heart transplant techniques and, more recently, it has allowed technology like heart valves and artificial heart pumps to become a reality in treating people with heart disease. None of this would have been possible without the generosity of our supporters.
With your help we currently fund research at 31 hospitals and universities across the UK – one example is a £800,000 project into the development of an artificial heart muscle to help patients with heart failure. We’ve also awarded over £650,000 to community-based Healthy Heart lifestyle projects, because it’s important for people to do all they can to reduce the risks of developing heart disease.
We place a strong emphasis on supporting new and emerging technologies and clinical and surgical projects. We pride ourselves on helping young researchers on their first steps into research, so they can go on to be the experts and specialists of tomorrow.
Most people’s lives will be affected by heart disease at some point, but with your support we can help people now, and future generations, live healthier, happier, longer lives.
