Great Ormond Street Hospital is full of remarkable children whose bravery touches everyone. With our supporters, we help keep the magic alive for thousands of children who need our help every year.

Many of our success stories are down to the support of our payroll givers. Their regular and dependable donations mean that funds can go where they were needed most and long term research projects generating huge progress in paediatric medicine can be undertaken. Here are just a few of the things our payroll givers donations helped fund in 2008:

Intensive care family liaison nurses provide both emotional and practical support at times of great distress to families who have critically ill children in intensive care. Our research project into the early life transitions of autistic children will ultimately lead to improvement of the livelihoods of autistic children at a high risk of psychosocial disadvantage, with the input of parents, teachers and clinicians. The maintenance of parent accommodation which consists of 21 rooms as well as 5 apartments and 4 flats. This building provides a “home from home” for families of transplant patients, and those with complex post-discharge needs.

These are amazing achievements but each year presents a new challenge. We need to raise £50 million a year to fund the essential redevelopment of two-thirds of the hospital, buy vital equipment and undertake research. This will not be possible without the generous support of payroll givers who donate regularly.
