Every 21 minutes someone is diagnosed with leukaemia or a related blood illness, it is indiscriminate and can affect anyone at anytime regardless of age, race or sex. In fact leukaemia is the biggest cause of death by disease in children in the UK.

In many cases a child or adult’s only hope of survival is a stem cell transplant from a complete stranger. The Anthony Nolan Trust provides lifesaving donors for patients in need of a stem cell transplant from bone marrow or cord blood. The Charity has its own register of over 400,000 people willing to donate stem cells to a stranger if called upon, and also links to a global network of registers allowing it to access over 12 million potential donors worldwide.

Since 1974 The Anthony Nolan Trust has given over 6,000 children and adults a new chance of life. In 2009 The Anthony Nolan Trust provided life saving stem cell/bone marrow donations for over 800 patients averaging over 2 lives saved a day.
