  • 1.8 million Pensioners (16%) live below the poverty line (a weekly income of £119 for single pensioners and £206 for a couple)
  • The number of people aged 60 years and over is expected to rise by 50% in the next 25 years to almost 20 million in 2031
  • Over 65s are estimated to spend an average of 80% of their time in the home – 90% for people over 85
  • Age is a triumph of our times – a result of improved public health, sanitation and development. Yet 184 million older people worldwide still live in poverty.
