ActionAid is a partnership between people in poor countries and people in rich countries, dedicated to ending poverty and injustice around the world.  What makes ActionAid different is that we don’t just tackle the effects of poverty but also the causes, holding companies and governments accountable.

At ActionAid we believe in fighting poverty side-by-side with the world’s poorest people. We work in over 40 countries helping people manage their own development.  By helping to ensure that all people can access their most basic rights, such as an education, clean water and nutritious food, we know we can change the causes and not just the symptoms of poverty.

Much of ActionAid’s work is funded through child sponsorship. For just 50p a day, £15 a month, sponsors have a unique connection with one child, but their support goes directly to help the child’s whole community, so helping many people to escape poverty. As a sponsor you can see the difference your gift is making through reports directly from the community and messages and drawings from your sponsored child.

But child sponsorship is not the only way to support ActionAid’s work, for as little £1 a week you can help poor people access vital services, and help people become aware of their basic rights, giving them information, skills and the confidence they need to change their lives.
