Action Medical Research is dedicated to improving health for babies and children. For almost 60 years we have been behind some of the most significant breakthroughs in medical history.
With successes such as helping to develop the first UK polio vaccine, introducing ultrasound scanning in pregnancy, testing the first rubella vaccine, and discovering the importance of taking folic acid in pregnancy to prevent spina bifida, the charity has helped change many young lives, but there is much more to be done.
How your money helps
Every week in the UK more than 25 babies die as a result of premature birth; yet doctors still don’t know what causes it or how to prevent it. Our Touching Tiny Lives appeal is devoted to funding research into premature birth and other conditions that put babies’ lives at risk.
We are one of very few charities searching for both new treatments and practical ways to help children coping with disabilities caused by conditions such as cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, epilepsy, stroke and MS.
Child health is a surprisingly underfunded area of research. By giving to Action Medical Research you will be supporting the best medical research in children’s hospitals and specialist units across the UK.
Be part of the next breakthrough and help transform more lives.
